1881 Provisionals, 2 on 12c pale violet, vertical pair with upper example with SURCHARGE DOUBLE showing type 23 & type 24 surcharge and bottom example showing SURCHARGE DOUBLE of type 23 only, mint with fresh original gum, a spectacular variety of which only TWO such pairs are recorded (SG £6’850)Provenance: Stanley Gibbons (2003)
