Former president of the Friends of Commander Charcot and of the Pourquoi-Pas?, Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society London, corresponding member of the Academy of Philately (France), member of the European Academy of Philately, of the Collectors Club (New York) , the Society of Postal Historians (United Kingdom), the International Association of Philatelic Journalists, the Geographical Society (France), the Society of French Explorers, and several polar philatelic associations in France and abroad, Serge Kahn has been passionate about activities in the polar regions for many years, and more particularly those involving France and French explorers.
A few decades ago, it was through postal history that he discovered the reality of the polar world. The exploration and conquest of the poles fascinates him. When he left the business world, he devoted himself to this passion by bringing the memory of polar history to life for others through his books, articles, lectures and exhibitions.
Serge Kahn has repeatedly followed in the footsteps of great explorers in Antarctica and East Greenland. He is the author of three books on Jean-Baptiste Charcot published by Glénat in 2006, 2008 and 2015.
